New Year's Eve in Seville 2026: a practical guide

As of 20 October 2026, Seville City Council has not announced any New Year's Eve event, and in the 2025 official sources we found no council-run countdown party either. Here is what opens and closes on those days and how to plan. If an official party is announced, we will add it.

Is there an official countdown in Seville?

2026: nothing announced. For 2025 we found no public countdown organised by the City Council, like those in Madrid, Malaga or Valencia, in the official sources we checked. The Christmas page of Visita Sevilla, the city's tourism website, only mentions restaurants' special menus for Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve (Visita Sevilla).

If the council organises something in 2026, we will update this guide.

The 12 grapes in two sentences: you eat one grape on each of the twelve strokes of midnight, and if you finish in time you start the year with good luck. Before the strokes come the quarter chimes, which do not count, so wait for the first stroke.

What opens and closes on 31 December and 1 January

1 January 2027 (Friday): a public holiday across Spain, Andalusia included (BOE). 6 January is also a public holiday.

Christmas 2025-2026 hours from Visita Sevilla's monuments guide (Visita Sevilla), a useful reference until the 2026 ones are out:

  • Cathedral and Giralda: on 31 December, 11:00 to 14:00, and only the Patio de los Naranjos and the Giralda. Closed on 1 January.
  • Real Alcázar: on 31 December, 9:30 to 17:00. Closed on 1 January.
  • Archivo de Indias: closed on 31 December and 1 January.

Other Christmas plans on those days (2025):

  • Navigalia, the story projected over the river at Muelle de la Sal, had no shows on 31 December or 1 January (Visita Sevilla).
  • The Plaza de San Francisco projection mapping ran from 18:30 to 23:00; the guide lists no exception for the 31st.
  • Nativity scenes: the Fundación Cajasol one (Plaza de San Francisco, 1) closed at 14:00 on the 31st; the Círculo Mercantil one (Calle Sierpes, 65) opened only in the morning on the 31st and was closed on the 1st.

Before going anywhere on those two days, check the opening hours: each monument and shop sets its own.

Getting around that night

We have not found official notices with the special New Year's Eve 2025 timetables for Tussam (city buses) or Metro de Sevilla. Tussam posts its changes in its special notices and timetables section, which also lists its night lines. Check it in late December.

If you are having dinner in the centre and want to walk back, look for a place to stay in the historic centre.

Alternatives and more plans

  • Dinner out: if you want to eat at a restaurant on the 31st, book early and ask what the menu includes (grapes, party favours, closing time).
  • Ticketed parties: buy only from the organiser's official website or box office, and check that it states the venue and the times.
  • Lights, nativity scenes, Navigalia and the Three Kings parade: see our guide to Christmas in Seville.

For everything else on those days, see the Seville events guide.
