Updated on 24 October 2026
Is there an All Saints' long weekend in Barcelona in 2026?
No. In 2026, 1 November falls on a Sunday and Catalonia has not moved the holiday: in its 2026 calendar, Monday 2 November is a working day (BOE). In other regions, such as Madrid or Andalusia, Monday 2 is a public holiday, so you may see more Spanish visitors that weekend.
The dates that matter:
- Friday 30 October: neighbourhood Castanyada parties.
- Saturday 31 October: Castanyada and Halloween.
- Sunday 1 November: Tots Sants. It is also the first Sunday of the month: free entry to several museums.
The Castanyada: chestnuts, sweet potatoes and panellets
The Castanyada is Catalonia's autumn festival, held on the eve of All Saints' Day. People eat roast chestnuts, sweet potatoes and panellets, small almond sweets, and remember those who have died (Catalan Tourist Board). Cake shops sell panellets around these dates; the classic ones are coated in pine nuts (Catalan Tourist Board).
Neighbourhood Castanyada parties in the city's official listings, all free:
- Castanyada popular del Gòtic: Friday 30 at 19:00, in Plaça de Sant Just (Barcelona City Council).
- Castanyada i xerinola, in the Jardins de Can Farrero: Friday 30 at 17:30 (Barcelona City Council).
- 'Fot-li castanya', a Castanyada party with a route through Sant Pere, Santa Caterina i la Ribera: Saturday 31, with events at 21:00 and 22:30 (Barcelona City Council).

Tots Sants: cemeteries and extra buses
On 1 November many families visit the Montjuïc and Collserola cemeteries. TMB runs extra buses up to and including Sunday 1 November (TMB, 22-10-2026):
- Montjuïc: a special service with the same route and stops as line 107 (the cemetery's internal line) on 24 October and from 26 to 31 October. On 1 November there are more buses on line 21 (Paral·lel-El Prat) and line 107, and a shuttle from Plaça d'Espanya to the cemetery.
- Collserola: a special service on the line 102 route from 26 to 29 October. Lines 102 (Pl. Eivissa-Cementiri de Collserola) and 104 (Fabra i Puig-Cementiri de Collserola) run extra buses on 31 October and 1 November, among other days.
Cementiris de Barcelona, the city-owned cemetery company, usually extends its hours and runs cultural routes at Montjuïc and Poblenou around these dates. Its website sits on the City Council's domain, which does not allow automated reading, so we have not checked it: look up the hours and routes there before you go.
What opens on Sunday 1 November: free museums
1 November is a Sunday and also the first Sunday of the month:
- Museu Picasso: open from 10:00 to 19:00, with free entry on the first Sunday of every month by advance booking, which opens four days before at 10:00. It closes every Monday, so it is shut on Monday 2 (Museu Picasso). If you miss out on a free slot, standard tickets are also sold on Tiqets.
- Other museums: many of the city's museums are also free on the first Sunday of the month. You will find them, with opening hours, on our free museums in Barcelona page.
- Shops: it is a Sunday; check each shop's hours before you go.
Monday 2 is a working day in Catalonia: shops and services open as normal.
