What is the Three Kings Parade?
In Spain, Christmas presents are brought by the Three Kings (the Three Wise Men) on the night of 5 to 6 January, and that afternoon Melchior, Caspar and Balthazar parade through the city on floats, throwing sweets to the children. It is a free family celebration and the last big event of the Christmas season.
In Catalan it is called the Cavalcada dels Reis d'Orient, the name the council uses in its official calls; the Spanish-language programme calls it the Cabalgata de los Reyes Magos. It is the same parade.
When is the Palma Three Kings Parade in 2027?
It will be on the afternoon of Tuesday 5 January 2027. In October 2026 the council opened its calls for floats and dance troupes and for sweet donations for the 2027 parade (City Council; City Council), but the time and route have not been published yet. We will update this guide when they are.
How it went in 2026, according to the council's Christmas programme (Palma City Council, Christmas programme 2025):
- 3 January, 11:30: official arrival of the Royal Pages in Plaça de Cort.
- 5 January, 18:00: the Kings arrive at the Moll Vell and the parade sets off.
- 5 January, 20:30: reception and greeting by the Kings in Plaça de Cort.
- 6 January, 11:30: Adoration of the Three Kings at Ses Voltes.

The Kings' arrival by boat at the Moll Vell
The Kings arrive by sea at the Moll Vell, the old quay, opposite the Cathedral and the Parc de la Mar. In 2026 they came ashore just before 18:00 and the mayor handed them the keys to the city (El Debate, press). According to the local press, they arrived aboard the sailing ship Rafael Verdera (Mallorca Informa, press).
The parade starts right afterwards from the same spot, so you can see both the arrival and the start: stand on Avinguda d'Antoni Maura, by the quay.
The parade route, street by street
The 2027 route is still to be confirmed. The 2026 route, according to the council programme (Palma City Council):
- Moll Vell (Kings' arrival and start).
- Avinguda d'Antoni Maura.
- Passeig del Born.
- Plaça del Rei Joan Carles I.
- Carrer de la Unió.
- La Rambla.
- Carrer del Baró de Pinopar.
- Avinguda d'Alemanya.
- Avinguda de Portugal.
- Passeig de Mallorca.
- Avinguda de Jaume III.
- Plaça del Rei Joan Carles I (again).
- Passeig del Born.
- Plaça de la Reina (end of the parade).
The Kings then go to Plaça de Cort, in front of City Hall, where they greet the crowd from the balcony. The route is a loop around the centre: it passes Plaça del Rei Joan Carles I and the Born twice, good spots if you want to see it twice.
In 2026 there were 22 new floats, 24 counting those of other organisations, and the parade was opened by giants and big-heads, mounted police, the municipal band and xeremiers, the Majorcan bagpipers (El Debate, press).
How long does it last, and when does it pass each stretch?
The council does not publish passing times. It starts at 18:00, and the programme put the reception in Cort at 20:30. The press expected the parade to finish in Cort between 21:00 and 22:00 (Ara Balears, press), and bus diversions lasted until 22:00.
In order, the Born and Antoni Maura see it first; Avinguda d'Alemanya, Avinguda de Portugal and Passeig de Mallorca halfway through; and Jaume III and the return to the Born at the end.
Where to watch and tips
- Reduced mobility: the press reported specific points for people with reduced mobility along the route, without saying where (Ara Balears, press). The published information mentions no chairs or stands for hire.
- Sweets: in 2026 some of the sweets were gluten-free (El Debate, press). A bag helps.
- Arrive early: in 2026 up to 40,000 people came out to watch, according to the same report.
- With children: agree on a meeting point away from the route in case you get separated, and do not step into the road for sweets.
- Rain and cold: in 2026 there were rain and cold warnings and the parade went ahead. The council does not publish a wet-weather plan: if the forecast looks bad, check its website that day.
- Kings' Night: children leave their shoes out before going to bed so the Kings can leave the presents there.
