October 2026 timetables (Renfe and EMT); they change with the season.
C1 commuter train: the fastest and cheapest
The C1 line (Málaga Centro-Alameda - Fuengirola) stops at the airport. From arrivals, follow the Cercanías Renfe signs to the airport station.
- Price: single ticket for 1 or 2 zones, €1.80.
- Journey time: 8 minutes to María Zambrano (high-speed train station) and 12 minutes to Málaga Centro-Alameda, the last stop, right next to the old town.
- Frequency: in the October 2026 timetable there is a train every 20 minutes for most of the day and every 30 minutes late at night. Early on weekend mornings the gap is longer.
- First and last train: the first leaves at about 6:44 am and the last just after midnight, at about 0:54 am.
- How to pay: at ticket machines or the ticket office, or straight at the gates with a contactless bank card or your phone. If you pay this way, tap out at the exit too: otherwise Renfe charges the maximum fare.
In the other direction, the same line serves Torremolinos, Benalmádena and Fuengirola.

A Express bus: straight to Paseo del Parque
Málaga's city bus company EMT runs the Airport Express line (A). The stop is on floor 0, arrivals, opposite the transport interchange.
- Price: €4. Luggage travels free.
- How to pay: cash to the driver, Visa or Mastercard tapped on the reader when boarding (only when boarding, not when getting off) or a QR ticket from the EMT Málaga app.
- Frequency: every 20-25 minutes.
- Timetable from the airport (October 2026): 7:00 am to 1:15 am on weekdays. On public holidays the last bus leaves at about 1:10 am.
- Stops towards the centre: Explanada de la Estación (María Zambrano train station), the bus station, Avenida de Andalucía, Alameda Principal and the final stop at Paseo del Parque.
During big events in the centre (such as the Ironman 70.3 in October 2026), EMT may move the line's terminus on Paseo del Parque: check its notices before waiting for the bus back.
Taxi: official 2026 fares
The taxi rank is on floor 0, arrivals. Taxis leaving the airport use specific fares, approved by the regional government for 2026:
| Fare | When it applies | Minimum fare |
|---|---|---|
| Fare 4 | working days Monday to Friday, 6:00 am to 10:00 pm | €18.24 |
| Fare 5 | working days 10:00 pm to 6:00 am (except Fridays and days before holidays, 10:00 pm to midnight), and Saturdays, Sundays and holidays 6:00 am to 10:00 pm | €22.48 |
| Fare 9 | Fridays and days before holidays 10:00 pm to midnight, and Saturdays, Sundays and holidays midnight to 6:00 am and 10:00 pm to midnight | €25.80 |
Supplements: €0.58 per suitcase in the boot, €2.23 for night trips between midnight and 6:00 am (fares 5 and 9) and €2.79 in an adapted vehicle from the fifth passenger. Fares 5 and 9 also apply during Holy Week and the August Fair.
The centre is close, so the meter usually stays at or just above the minimum fare. Ask for a receipt.
Ride-hailing (Uber and Bolt)
Aena lists two pickup points: Uber at the T3 preferred car park, floor 0, and Bolt at the arrivals car park, floor 0. You see the price in the app before confirming, and it can rise when demand is high.
Pre-booked private transfer
With a service such as Welcome Pickups you book before you travel: the driver tracks your flight and meets you at arrivals, with a fixed price paid in advance. According to the company, the price is equivalent to a taxi from the rank.
It is not worth it if you travel light and land in daytime: the train is unbeatable. It is worth it if you land in the small hours, travel with young children or lots of luggage, are heading to accommodation that is hard to find, or would rather skip the taxi queue in high season.
Which option suits you
- Solo or as a couple, in daytime: C1 train. If you are staying near Paseo del Parque or the Alameda, the A bus drops you closer.
- Landing before 6:44 am or after 1:15 am: no train or bus. Taxi, ride-hailing or a pre-booked transfer.
- Family with suitcases: taxi or private transfer. Four people pay just over €20 by taxi in daytime, not much more than four bus tickets.
- Group of 5 or more: ask for an adapted taxi (€2.79 supplement from the fifth passenger) or book a transfer with a larger vehicle.
