What is the Three Kings Parade?
In Spain, Christmas presents are brought by the Three Kings (the Three Wise Men) on the night of 5 to 6 January, and that afternoon Melchior, Caspar and Balthazar parade through the city on floats, throwing sweets to the children. It is a free family celebration and the last big event of the Christmas season.
In Las Palmas de Gran Canaria the day starts in the morning, with the Kings arriving by boat, and ends after midnight with concerts in Triana. All times in this guide are Canary Islands time, one hour behind mainland Spain.
When is the Las Palmas Three Kings Parade in 2027?
It will be on Tuesday 5 January 2027. The time and route have not been published yet: in 2026 the council presented them on 2 January. We will update this guide then.
How it went in 2026 (City Council):
- 9:30: the Naval Base gates open, with children's workshops.
- 11:30: the Kings arrive by boat at the Naval Base (Base Naval).
- 16:30: the parade leaves the Castillo de La Luz.
- Finish: in Parque San Telmo.

The Kings' arrival by boat at the Naval Base
In 2026 the Kings arrived at the Naval Base at 11:30, aboard three tugboats. The gates opened at 9:30 with balloon-twisting and face-painting workshops (City Council). The mayor handed them the city's "magic key" in front of thousands of children, despite the rain (LPA Cultura).
Other official websites gave different arrival times (11:00 on the tourism website and 12:00 on the bus company's): get there before 11:00 so you do not miss it.
Traffic and buses that morning (2026): from 9:00 to 14:30 the council closed the Alcaravaneras slip road from Avenida Marítima northbound, Néstor de la Torre (between Presidente Alvear and León y Castillo) and León y Castillo (between Néstor de la Torre and Mesa y López) (City Council). Guaguas Municipales, the city bus company, reinforced lines 12, 21, 26 and 33 from 10:00, with the main stop at Galicia 32 (Guaguas Municipales).
The parade route, street by street
The 2027 route is still to be confirmed. The 2026 route, according to the council (note of 2-1-2026):
- Castillo de La Luz (start, 16:30).
- Juan Rejón.
- Albareda.
- Parque Santa Catalina.
- Presidente Alvear.
- León y Castillo.
- Muelle Las Palmas.
- Parque San Telmo (finish).
The council's safety plan also lists Bravo Murillo between León y Castillo and Muelle Las Palmas (City Council). It is a long route, from La Isleta to Triana, across half the city.
In 2026 there were 18 floats and more than a thousand performers, with Disney characters, Minions and Harry Potter, inflatables, acrobats, bands and dancers, led by the Roman centurions of the Casa de Galicia.
What time does it pass each area?
The council does not publish passing times. What it did publish in 2026 was when each area closed to traffic, which gives an idea of the order (City Council):
| Area | Closed from |
|---|---|
| Port area and Juan Rejón (start) | 14:00 |
| Albareda | 15:30 |
| Julio Luengo tunnel (access roads) | about 16:30 |
| Arenales | about 17:00 |
| Venegas, Bravo Murillo and Muelle Las Palmas | about 17:30 |
The Julio Luengo tunnel reopened around 21:30, once the whole parade had passed, and the route was fully open again around 22:00. To see it early, stand near Santa Catalina; if you would rather come later, it reaches the last stretch towards San Telmo after dark.
Where to watch: silent stretch and tips
- Silent stretch: in 2026 there was an area for people sensitive to noise between the Julio Luengo tunnels and the Hospital Santa Catalina (City Council).
- No chairs or stands: the council's 2026 notes do not mention chairs, stands or reserved areas for people with reduced mobility.
- Use public transport: that is the council's advice, with half the route closed from early afternoon.
- With children: agree on a meeting point away from the route in case you get separated, and do not step into the road for sweets.
- Rain: in 2026 it rained during the Kings' arrival and it went ahead anyway (LPA Cultura). Bring a rain jacket: in a crowd, an open umbrella gets in everyone's way.
- Kings' Night: children leave their shoes out before going to bed so the Kings can leave the presents there.
Buses and road closures on parade day
The 2027 details will be published in early January. In 2026:

More Christmas in Las Palmas
The Las Canteras sand nativity scene, the Christmas lights, New Year's Eve and the San Silvestre race are in our Christmas in Las Palmas guide. In 2026-2027, Christmas in Santa Catalina (behind the park, El Refugio and Plaza de Canarias) runs from 4 December to 5 January (LPA Cultura).
