How to get from Alicante airport to Benidorm

The most practical option is Alsa's direct bus: it leaves from the departures level, makes no intermediate stops and reaches Benidorm in about 45-50 minutes, with more than 32 services a day between 7:00 am and 11:00 pm. If you land later or are a group with suitcases, a taxi runs on the meter at the regional interurban fare plus a €4.25 airport supplement.

Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández airport lies within the municipality of Elche, on the outskirts of Alicante. Benidorm is to the north, on the far side of Alicante, so every option goes around or through the city.

Alsa direct bus: the default choice

Alsa runs a direct service with no intermediate stops between the airport and Benidorm.

  • Where to catch it: on level 2 (departures), not arrivals. Go up to departures, leave the terminal and cross the pavement to the bus bays, right in front of the check-in doors. Aena places it on the departures road.
  • Frequency and times: according to Alsa, there are more than 32 services a day, every day. The first leaves at 7:00 am and the last at 11:00 pm.
  • Journey time: about 45-50 minutes. The 7:00 am bus reaches Benidorm bus station at 7:45 am.
  • Stops in Benidorm: the Bus Station (calle Francisco Llorca Antón, 6) and avenida Europa, 8. Check your ticket to see where your bus ends.
  • Tickets: on alsa.com, in the Alsa app, at sales points and on the bus itself when the service allows. Cash is only accepted at sales points, machines and on board; online you can pay by card, PayPal or Apple Pay (app only). You do not need to print your ticket.
  • Price: it depends on the fare and the date. Check the exact price in Alsa's search tool when booking.
  • Luggage: one suitcase or backpack up to 20 kg goes free in the hold, plus a small bag in the overhead rack. An extra piece up to 25 kg costs extra, from €5 per trip.

What if your flight is late? Alsa lets you change a ticket whose departure time has passed, free of charge, up to 12 hours after the scheduled departure, if the reason is a delay or incident with your flight. The change is only to the next available service and is made at the airport sales point or by phone. It does not apply to tickets issued with free vouchers or Alsa passes.

Via Alicante: C-6 bus and TRAM line 1

This is only worth it if the direct bus is full or you prefer the tram. It is slower and involves a change.

  1. C-6 bus from the airport to central Alicante. It leaves from the bus stop on the departures road. According to Aena, it connects with the TRAM at Alfonso X El Sabio and Plaza de los Luceros. Price, times and stops are in our Alicante airport to city centre guide.
  2. TRAM line 1 (Luceros - Benidorm). From Luceros it runs along the coast, via El Campello and La Vila Joiosa, to the Benidorm and Benidorm Intermodal stops. Luceros is in zone A and Benidorm in zone B, so you need a two-zone (AB) ticket: €2.90 single and €5.00 return, at the fares in force since 1 October 2026.

Check the TRAM timetable for your date in the planner on tramalacant.es: FGV does not publish a fixed frequency for line 1 on its website.

Alsa also runs buses between Alicante bus station and Benidorm. Times and prices are on alsa.com.

Taxi: 2026 interurban fare

The rank is on the arrivals road. Official airport taxis have a green stripe from front to back and the Elche coat of arms on the front doors. The service is run by Radio Taxi Elche, with 85% of the fleet, and Servitaxi Elche. Radio Taxi Elche has an information point in the arrivals hall, open 9:00 am to 1:00 am.

There is no official fixed fare from the airport to Benidorm: taxis run on the meter at the Valencia region's interurban fare, in force since 30 December 2025, plus the €4.25 airport supplement:

Fare When it applies Flag fall Per km
Ordinary working days (Saturdays included) 7:00 am to 9:00 pm €2.25 €1.46
Special 9:00 pm to 7:00 am, and all day on Sundays and holidays €2.80 €1.68
  • Waiting time: €19.00 per hour (ordinary) and €21.40 (special), charged in 15-minute blocks.
  • No charge for the return: regional rules forbid charging for the taxi's empty trip back.
  • Tolls: if there were any, the passenger would pay them, but there are none on this route (see the car section).
  • Payment: every taxi in the Valencia region must accept cards. If you pay cash, the driver must give change up to €50.

Fixed price by booking. Radio Taxi Elche lists prices to Benidorm from €83 on its booking website; the final amount depends on the exact address. When you book, they wait for you with a name sign for up to an hour after landing, track your flight and have child seats for every age group.

Pre-booked private transfer

With a service such as Welcome Pickups you book before you travel: the driver meets you at arrivals with your name, at your flight time, and you pay a fixed price in advance.

Before booking, compare the price with Radio Taxi Elche's pre-booked taxi, which lists its fares to Benidorm on its website. A transfer is most worth it if you are a group with suitcases or child seats, if you land after the last bus or if you are staying outside central Benidorm.

Hire car: no tolls to Benidorm

The car hire desks (Avis, Centauro, Europcar, Goldcar-InterRent, Hertz-Firefly, OK Mobility, Record Go and Sixt) are on level 0, arrivals.

  • By motorway: go round Alicante on the A-70 or the AP-7 and carry on north on the AP-7, towards Valencia. There are no tolls on any stretch: the AP-7 between Alicante and Valencia has been toll-free since 1 January 2020, and the AP-7 Alicante bypass was freed from tolls by a Spanish Council of Ministers decision of 9 December 2025.
  • Along the coast: the N-332 runs through El Campello and La Vila Joiosa. It is an ordinary road that passes through town centres.
  • Low Emission Zone: central Benidorm has a ZBE with camera-controlled access, covering the old town, the Levante and Poniente promenades and the Mediterráneo and Alfonso Puchades avenues. If your accommodation is inside it, ask your hotel how to get in and whether you need a permit.

A car is only worth it if you plan to explore the Costa Blanca. If you are staying in Benidorm, the bus or a taxi will drop you near your hotel without parking costs.

Which option suits you

  • Solo or as a couple, in daytime: Alsa's direct bus. Buy your ticket online and pick a departure with some margin if your flight is often late.
  • Landing late: if you cannot make the 11:00 pm bus, take a taxi or a pre-booked transfer.
  • Family or group with suitcases: taxi or private transfer. Compare Radio Taxi Elche's fixed price with a transfer.
  • Staying far from the Avenida Europa and bus station stops: a door-to-door taxi or transfer, or the direct bus plus a short taxi ride in Benidorm.
  • Touring the Costa Blanca: a hire car, with no tolls to Benidorm.

Once you arrive, see our guide to things to do in Benidorm.
